EXPLORING SCOTT ROLEN'S 19-GAME HITTING STREAK...

I thought we should take some time to divulge into Rolen's incredible career high 19-game hit streak which also currently the longest hit streak in the majors presently!

Of course, fans were treated earlier this season to Ryan Zimmerman's 30-gamer which was a continuation from a year ago, Ichiro's franchise-record 27-gamer! If Rolen could put himself in that class, we could truly say it has been an incredible resurgent year for the seven-time gold glove winner!

How does Rolen rank? Let's see:

2) Ichiro Suzuki (Seattle)- 27 games
3) Jacoby Ellsbury (Boston)- 22 games
4) Derek Lee (Chicago) - 21 games
5) Scott Rolen (Toronto) - 19 games

It appears to the Cabinet that Rolen's 19-gamer is good enough for the 5th longest hitting streak in Major League Baseball this season!

And over the course of the hitting streak since June 8th, Rolen is hitting .423 (33-for-78) and has had TEN MULTI-HIT games! His season average is up to .333 which ranks second in the American League behind Ichiro who is hitting .368 (Mauer at .392 does not have enough at-bats to qualify)!!!

During the 19-game streak, Rolen has produced an offensive stat line of 3 HR, 12 RBI, 6 2B, and 4 BB, while only striking out SIX times.

Maybe Rolen's 29 extra-base hits this season don't impress you that much considering he has 85 hits total, but it is the continued hitting of Rolen, and while the failure of both Wells and Rios to do damage in critical situations that has seen the 34-year old find a home in the Blue Jays' cleanup spot. After all, Rolen is the team's most consistent hitter, and he has the best chances of driving in Marco Scutaro, Aaron Hill and Adam Lind who is now hitting in front of him!

Toronto fans better take notice when and if Rolen's streak manages to hit 25 games next week especially, because we could have something special on our hands to chase down Shawn Green's 28-gamer that set the franchise record back on August 1, 1999! (Correct me if I'm wrong!).
